Product Information

To’ak Chocolate and Fundación Guayasamín have teamed up to create the Chocolate & Art  Experience, a one-of-a-kind journey in Quito that celebrates the rich history, art, and chocolate of Ecuador.

Join us on an exclusive journey through 5,000 years of culture and history and awaken your senses with the finest chocolate & art that Ecuador has to offer. This two-hour private experience takes you behind the scenes and into the home of Ecuador's most celebrated modern artist - Oswaldo Guayasamín.

After a guided tour of the artist's home, the second half of the tour will take place in Guayasamín's wine cellar, where he entertained royalty, notable guests and his closest friends. An intimate setting around a table. In front of each person is a tasting plate with a roasted cacao bean and samples of at least five different editions of To’ak chocolate. Akin to a wine tasting, a member of To’ak’s production team guides everyone through a comprehensive tasting and pairing experience, with a focus on Ecuador’s famous Nacional cacao variety.

Cacao genetics, terroir, fermentation methods, barrel-aging, and other production decisions are all explained in the context of how these variables influence the aroma and flavor profile of each expression of chocolate. Comparable to a course in Wine 101, but with the most luxurious and elaborate dark chocolate on the planet.

Please note you must make your own transport arrangements. Children under 12 are free with two paying adults.

Sustainability and Certifications

Our cacao comes from non-certified organic farms. We personally know each of the farmers and their farms and conduct several monitoring visits per year to ensure no synthetic or chemical inputs are used.

To'ak has long gone well beyond Fair Trade, paying up to 700% above the local market price for wet cacao. While cacao prices are always fluctuating, To'ak continues to pay the true cost of cacao.

Your purchase supports our work in regenerative agriculture and heirloom cacao conservation. Cacao sourced from Piedra de Plata is certified Heirloom Cacao by Heirloom Cacao Preservation Fund.
