To’ak Chocolate is sourced from one of the last surviving groves of the legendary Ecuadorian cacao variety called Ancient Nacional,' which was previously believed to be extinct. We also pay cacao farmers the highest prices in the world—up to 9x over the Fair Trade price. Our chocolate is produced like a vintage wine and it’s often aged like a whisky—in some cases up to six years in specialty casks imported from around the world. Packaging is a work of art—some editions are presented in a handcrafted wooden box with the individual bar number engraved on the back. The wooden boxes also include proprietary tasting utensils in addition to a color booklet that explains the entire chocolate-making process and provides a guide to tasting and pairing. Then there is simply the issue of scarcity: we make extremely limited editions—sometimes as few as 50 bars per edition. Last but not least, we reinvest part of earnings in a conservation project to preserve and revive an endangered variety of cacao
